welcome to catalysts
a seminar-based course that explores the relationship of landscape/architectural interventions in the evolution and development of the urban fabric.
the course will investigate various examples, and will seek common threads and lessons learned from projects that view landscape architecture as integral and prescriptive of urban change.
rather than thinking of landscape as a medium aligned with more traditional gardens, hidden among the folds of a contrasting built fabric, catalyst projects are instigators of change and transformation and deal in dynamic relationships and flux, rather than stasis.
the class culminates with a series of proposals in a competition format that uses the city of miami as its idea laboratory.
